Fred Olsen Quartet in Bergen 2015

With all this talk of Cunard’s Three Queens events for their 175th anniversary during the year, this little nugget of information from a media presentation slipped under the radar:

All four Fred. Olsen ships will be coming together in Bergen – in Norway, the cruise line’s historic homeland – on 28th July 2015, docking alongside for the first-time ever

How exciting! Because Fred. Olsen is a very British cruise experience, you would never know they were actually Norwegian, despite proudly displaying portraits of King Harald V and Queen Sonja. While the ships may be older without gimmicks and a zillion balconies, they have a strong following from people who like to cruise, not be in a noisy, crowded resort. The cruises where you can be part of this historic meeting are:

Balmoral – Norwegian Fjords (8 nights, departing Southampton 25th July)
Black Watch – Cruising the Fjordland (9 nights, departing Liverpool 23rd July)
Boudicca – Glaciers, Fjords & Waterfalls of Norway (7 nights, departing Newcastle 26th July)
Braemar – Falls, Fjords & Faroe Islands (14 nights, departing Dover 18th July)

It promises to be a truly magical experience for everyone aboard. I’d love to be there, as it is one of my favourite countries. But with single fares too high for me, I’ll most likely have to miss out. 😦
